Cranberry intake does reduce the incidence of Urinary Tract Infection !

Jul 11, 2012

Thirteen trials, including 1616 subjects, were reviewed to evaluate Cranberries effectiveness. This meta-analysis showed that Cranberries were effective in women with recurrent UTI's, female populations, children, Cranberry juice drinkers and persons who consumed Cranberry products at least twice daily. The exact dose of juice/extract is not know. It appears that a compund of Cranberries, A-type proanthocyanidins (PAC's), prevented bacterial aherence to the bladder wall.
